Confirmed by Scientists: An Exoplanet like Earth is habitable
The advancement in science is more amazing today than before. Like this headline news: aside from Earth, there are possibilities that we can live in another planet. Many skeptics didn’t believe this theory; no, in fact, this is already true.
It’s been decades that scientists are studying the Earth-like exo-planet or extra solar planet in another galaxy. As we know it, our solar system is in the Milky Way Galaxy. The only known habitable planet is our world, the Earth. But because of the perseverance of these dedicated scientists, they are confident that the Earth-like planet will be named and be exposed to the public before the end of the year 2010.

Scientists’ Account
One of the ardent believers is Professor Michel Mayor of Geneva University. It will be recalled that Professor Mayor spearheaded a group of scientists who discovered the first extra solar planet or exoplanet in 1995. He was also the one who said that they will discover a planet that is Earth-like and has the same characteristics, like our world.
During his recent speaking engagement in Royal Society Conference as part of the 50th anniversary of Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI), Professor Mayor proudly announced their newest discovery: the twin of the Earth.
He related to the audience, including the representatives of NASA, European Space Agency and UN Office for Outer Space Affairs the advancement of their studies for almost 15 years wherein they discovered 400 exoplanets that revolve around the stars like the planets in our solar system.
Although, they admit that only few can be compared to the Earth’s terrain, climate and other properties, the newly discovered exoplanet differs from the other 399 exoplanets. It is habitable, yet reaching it is far from reality.
Aside from Professor Mayor and the other scientists, the public is delighted by this discovery. Before, they only laugh at the achievements of some scientists, but now, they are starting to like the possibility of living in another planet in the future.

Its obvious that the twin earth exists. People on that planet might be thinking the same as us. Maybe snakes can talk on there, or humans are the size of palm trees. Whatever the case, it exists!

Space guys, thanks you for explaining the possibilities of having a 'twin earth'. Exploring the space around our solar system can bring new discoveries, like life in another exoplanet.
The planets are there alright but reaching them is the problem. For now at least.
I agree with you, rafken. And yet, man never rests in finding possibilities that life can exist on other planets.

I am an environmentalist, this is a good news for us. Human beings are not safe in this planet in the near future. The continuous destruction on the natural resources can lead to a phenomenon that could cause human race to be out dated. As an environmentalist the only thing that we can do is to prevent and minimize the harmful effects of human activities in order to sustain the current environment as much as possible. I'm pretty much sure that by this time, rich countries had explore more than what is presented in public. They are making such action like transferring of selected races into those habitable planets.
@Romer Galdo: I'll be contented to be here on Earth. It will be decades or centuries before we can travel like the speed of light to another planet (as in time travel).
We just have to do our part in order to maintain the natural balance of eco-system in our planet.
@travel_man1971: It's impossible to travel like the speed of light, that's a ''fact''. No elements in earth can sustain the damage taken in traveling such a speed.
@Heskanaskuros: I cannot say that it's impossible. Who knows, in the future, scientists can develop technology for speed travel. Let's keep our fingers crossed for that scenario.
Traveling faster than light...damage caused by speed would be due to friction (or crashing)...not the actual movement. That is to say, if one travels at exactly the speed of sound, the vessel will explode, within the earth's atmosphere. However, that speed is sustainable in space where there would be no friction. Of course, I'm not a scientist or an expert and I don't really know what I'm talking about. I'm just making guesses from the education I do have.
I am curious though, how far exactly is this planet? I'm curious if we may one day develop the technology or if that's a pipe dream. Potentially there is life there already, and it is potentially advanced enough to reach here...possible?
Anyways, how far is this planet from us?
@Ken: There are lot of theories from the book by Swiss astronomer Michel Mayor but time travel is still impossible in our time or if conspiracy theorists are right, scientists are experimenting it for ages.
I don't have to guess about the distance of that first exoplanet.
In fact, there are 400 exoplanets that are revolving around the stars for the last 15 years!

This is a good possibility, but when in the future? Earth will be no longer a safe habitat for future generation if we didn't do something good today.
