Possibilities for Success

Writing at HubPages, uploading home-made videos in YouTube, managing a Group Page on Facebook, running a website online…these are but some of the endless options to earn money in the virtual world or you may call it worldwide Web (www). But for a homemaker Julie Aigner-Clark, you can also make it BIG by just staying at home, equipped with witty ideas that can be appreciated by children, first and foremost. Videos for the baby is just a bright idea as a starter if you want a homegrown business basement that will truly catch the ‘American Dream’ and make it real; and say, sold it to the mega-giant Disney for an estimated $25 million (US dollars)! Wow! OMG!!! Yes, fellow hubbers, it’s real and it’s now being enjoyed on Disney channel by children worldwide!

It was then that Baby Einstein was born. After 10 years, amid complaints, it still thrive in the children market.

The Homemade stories behind Julie Aigner-Clark’s success

The collaboration with Disney happened in 2002. Ms. Aigner-Clark says that “Disney, a company that has been bringing smiles to the faces of children for more that half a century, will allow us to take our company to a whole new level.”

When her first daughter was born, Aigner-Clark quit her job as a schoolteacher to stay at home.

To get some time to herself and ease her boredom, she concocted a video for the baby. But it wasn’t your ordinary kiddie flick with goofy tunes and silly characters. Her video diversion was called Baby Einstein and featured music, poems, literature and art.

Friends went wild and vocally appreciated her works. So, she followed it up with Baby Bach, baby Shakespeare and Baby Van Gogh. They sold so well she kept making them.

Her husband, Bill Clark, also quit his job to become his wife’s financial manager. He said they don’t claim the products will make the children smarter, but they might enrich their lives.

As for Disney’s part, Baby Einstein expanded into the line for all ages and flash cards, books and toys for children are but some of the materials to accompany the videos. Not only that, Aigner-Clark and her husband will be kept on as consultant.

Although they didn't own the business, the couple still act as consultants these days.

They're just savoring the success of the home project they shared to the world and being enjoyed by children nowadays.
