The Adventures of Tintin: One of My Favorite Comic Strips

I've just seen the comic strips on the Adventures of Tintin way back 1975 when i was still four years old. I fell in love with the way it was drawn by the artist called Herge (not knowing that it's his pseudonym). My first move was to imitate the drawing by tracing it on a transparent white bond paper with a pencil (courtesy of my elder sister).

So there, painstakingly, through constant practice, I was able to copy, not draw, the exact form by tracing. I was encouraged by my sister to draw by my own original ideas. It didn't pushed through. I forgotten Tintin and was busy with painting realistic scenes on the canvas, not cultivating my comic-strip side.

It was only this late, (December 2010) when I discovered it again at an old magazine. I was influenced by Facebook users who are continously changing their profile photos into cartoon characters to show support on the UNICEF's advocacy against Child Abuse.

I already did about the massive changes, but in general form. I decided to feature Tintin on my hub and rediscover his adventures around the globe.

It started in Belgium, circa 1929...

 It is dubbed as the most famous European cartoon series that trancends "time, language and culture". Thanks to the imagination by its author, the Belgian artist Georges Remi (1907-1983).

The appeal of Tintin as a young investigative journalist with his ever-faithful pet, Snowy, a white fox terrier dog is overwhelming that it's latest adventure was updated in 2004.

To make our hero credible in his adventure, there are supporting cast that propelled him into a vey cunning teenager when solving mysteries during his adventures around the world. You will find out how he do it. I don't want to be a spoiler. You had to it by yourself.

First in the gang is Captain Archibald Haddock, a very cynical retired sailor, that strongly influenced Tintin to roam around the world and solve some of the greatest mysteries ever discovered.

The hearing-impaired but the most intelligent Professor Calculus taught Tintin a thing or two about mystery-solving.

Trailing closely are the usual incompetent detectives (the twins) Thompson and Thompson who followed Tintin wherever he goes.

All the elements of a good read are all in Tintin's adventures. From the Soviet soils to Tibet...from Egypt to other parts of the world,,,even at the moon: the author was able to stir the imagination of the readers.

It's all spiced up (completos recados), I may say.

And the drawings never fade. More and more fans are getting into the open, linking it to networking sites, like Facebook.

But of course, every comic character has its own inspiration. You can ask the artist you know. They'll always tell you that they're inspired to to draw from real-life models.

Tintin's character is not an exception. Herge was inspired by the globetrotting 16 year old teenager named Palle Huld (2August1912-26November2010)way back 1928, a year before Tintin came on the pages of newspaper.

Can you travel the most famous nations during those times, like, England, Scotland, Canada, Japan, Poland, Soviet Union and Germany in just 44 days? It was a challenge to the winning boy in Denmark, for Jules Verne contest courtesy of the newspaper Politiken to travel the world with an alloted 46 days for completion.

The Danish actor, who died at 98 this year, will never see Steven Spielberg bring Tintin to life on the big screen later this month.
