Songs for United Nations
United Nations is an international organization of nations implementing positive changes in the aspects of attaining world peace. It's known main branches are the General Assembly, Security Council among others that generally all representatives from member nations agree for rules and programs that will benefit each nation.
After conceiving the Commonwealth of Nations, leading nations such as the United States, Russia (former USSR), Great Britain, France along with interested nations finally proclaimed it as United Nations in October 24, 1945. It's also the start of renewing bonds among nations who fought during World War II as they've experienced the devastating effects of the Atomic (H-bomb) bomb that pulverized the two cities of Japan (Nagasaki and Hiroshima).
Well, that's the only part of the teachings we learned from our teachers in elementary and high school.
What was really the change of the UN made in the world for achieving the elusive peace? After 55 years, what do you think is the best effort made by the UN?
In the Eyes of a Child
Children are most affected by the warring countries. UN provides food and relief and education to improverished nations that were ravaged by war. The UNICEF (United Nations International for Children's Emergency Fund) also provides security for the affected children.
In school, teachers inculcate in the young minds of innocent children the beauty of living in this world without war but full of peace.
It's a Small World
By Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman
It's a world of laughter,
A world of tears.
It's a world of hopes,
And a world of fears.
There's so much that we share,
That it's time we're aware,
It's a small world after all.
Chorus:
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small, small world.
There is just one moon,
And one golden sun.
And a smile means,
Friendship to every one.
Though the mountains divide,
And the oceans are wide,
It's a small world after all.
Chorus:
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small, small world.
(Repeat all.)
For me, this should be the official anthem of the United Nations. You can really feel the essence of expressing the freedom that we want in a righteous society.
Imagine
by John Lennon
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
It's us, people of all nations who can really change the face of the world. If all member-countries of the UN will really cooperate, then we can achieve the motto of the UN: One for all, all for One.
