There’s a war going on at Facebook website that keeps me alert whenever I open my account. Every time I check the remarks on my status, on my links, my Facebook groups , I carefully answer all those requests and comments so that I will not offend my mutual and newfound friends.

But, once isolated case and a sympathetic answer created a violent reaction from the other user. My former colleague from the radio posted a personal message tackling the goodness and blessings when you have faith in God. Her post had an initial comment contradicting her message saying that “money is everything”, not the Lord. I had a second comment affirming my friends message, quote and unquote that “the hands of the Lord works in mysterious ways”.

Violent reactions from a Filipino user named Mark Amparado from Washington, DC, USA continued that even my friend was pestered by his negative comments. I also commented that maybe, he had experienced a very bad case that’s why he became “atheist”. This triggered his temper that he personally commented about my status with my friend.

Never in my life that I received threats through this social media; never had one on other chat centers. I answered three of his defaming answers, then I decided to make a group page: Anti-Cyber Bullying then posted it to may status so that my friends will know what is really happening on Facebook.

How Facebook Began

Facebook is the leading social networking website these days. Its humble beginnings on February of 2004 started this kind of media frenzy that conservative nations began prohibiting its usage due to privacy issue.

Although, it is privately owned by Facebook, Inc.; conceptualized by Mark Zuckerberg and his fellow computer science students, Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovits and Chris Hughes; the public users can sign up and add as many friends as they can. It was expanded in the Boston area by Ivy League and Stanford University. (Please buy the book, Facebook Effect for further readings.)

The original concept of Facebook was borrowed by Zuckerberg from his prep school Philipps Exeter Academy which for decades, published and distributed manuals of all students and faculty members called "face book".

Right now, there are about 400 million Facebook users around the world, although, like I said, it has been banned in nations like Pakistan, China, Syria, Vietnam and Iran. It is also prohibited in many work places because its features, aside from answering chats and messages are so addicting that you can't stop playing Farmville, Mafia Wars, Restaurant City...among others.

Zuckerberg and his friends have tied up with Microsoft as Facebook's offical advertiser. They have been busy developing more and more beneficial features to hook up more users in the future. Their main office is at Palo Alto, California but recently put up their branches in Europe, Africa and Asia.

Harrassment/Cyber Bullying on the Discussion Board of Facebook

There are may abuses existing on Facebook, like cloning your account, sending unethical messages on chat window, or in other words bullying you on the website.

These harrassments continue as of this writing; many complaints have been sent to the Facebook staff. Some account were already blocked by affected users but still continue to ploriferate inside the website.

I turn a lot of people down who want to give me gifts from Farmville and all the others. I know it is addictive and I have too many things I addicted to already.
